New DECT wireless technology provides state-of-the-art functional communication and multi-media features
The DECT Forum, the globally acting industry association embracing suppliers and operators of DECT based terminals, announces on January 19th 2006 the next generation of DECT wireless telephony. The fixed telephony network is migrating to a new generation of IP based networks and services. Therefore DECT is moving to a new generation of value added IP based services. The evolution of the mature and reliable DECT technology (almost worldwide the standard), is a joint approach of DECT Forum and ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute). ETSI will standardize the DECT enhancements as a new DECT profile, the DECT Forum will define the market applications and introduce the new technology including a new brand name and logo.
Internet telephony resounds throughout the land. The fixed network evolves to an IP based network. For a long time communication terminals at home and in enterprises have been connected to the fixed network. Nowadays the growing distribution and extension of wireless local data networks and digital voice control over the internet protocol (IP) enables a new generation of networks and IP related services and features.
