Hello,

I would like to use my Gigaset M34 USB + Gigaset S450 with my brand new I-Mac intel , but the set-up (driver) is made for windows, so when will you make available a driver for the USB M34 for Mac-Os X user ?

Kind regards

Hi,

the only way to use the M34 USB with your IMac is to install Boot Camp:

http://www.apple.com/de/macosx/bootcamp/

But be careful: This Boot Camp is a Beta Version. This may cause a breakdown of your computer!!!

Hello, Have the Gigaset S645 with M34 for a couple of years. I am forced to use Windows XP. It is about time Siemens comes out with Mac OS X support.

Hi Bobby,
I share your wish to run Gigaset products on a Mac. Unfortunately there are no plans to make Gigaset products Mac compatible. But I will go on asking my colleagues to enable this feature. In the meanwhile you have two ways to use your Gigaset products with a Mac: First via installing BootCamp (see comment above). Second via installing Parallels. Check this out:

Hum...if you want companies to support something else than win32, don't buy product only supported on win32. I've made the mistake with my last PDA/Phone. It will be the last.
Companies need to know that we, "power-user" or "power-buyer" (I mean people which buy techo products, read and write on Internet forums, etc), are often solicited by friends, collegues and so on to suggest which phone, PDA, computer is the best to buy.

Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, etc MUST be supported by any serious device manufacturer.

Hi, I have been using my Mac Mini - Intel without Bootcamp with a native Windows XP SP2 installation with my M34. No problems there. Bootcamp helps install Windows XP SP2 on a Mac with Intel chips, but doesn't run run Windows natively. Even Parallel is not the final answer for using M34 with a Mac (need to keep the vm running for the M34 to work). Next, any plans for Windows Vista ?? Moritz - I am comfortable with three platforms - Windows, Linux and Mac, but I still need these toys to work now and not in the next years to come. Would gladly support such products, but seemingly they seem to create a niche product and then fossilize. In this case we are stuck with the M34 (good product) with Wintel.

Thanks
Bobby

ps. I am running a computer tech support and consultancy service for a over a decade... Need to know more so I can suggest the right products to my clients.

Well, I already have two Siemens phones and was about to buy a third but now that I discover that this USB product is not mac compatible I will replace ALL my phones with Panasonic ones. NOT impressed Siemens - if you continue to run a Windows-centric environment you can expect a significant proportion of users simply not to buy ANY of your products!

Thanks Guys,
that you spoke in my favour! We definitely need MAC compatibility for all Gigaset products. But my influence is limited. This blog helps to push the issue forward, because I will forward your comments to the respective product managers.

Btw: I myself try to get a CAT-Client on my MacBook started in order that I can loggon the Siemens intranet with my MacBook, which is not possible so far...SBS refuses to install CAT-Clients on MacBooks...so I am well aware of your frustration...

Hi, how can I use the Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable with my Mac PowerBook?

Sam 9:49 PM, May 24, 2007

Hi Sam,
install Paralles on you Mac Book. Excellent program. Then you can run windows on your mac, which works with Gigasets...

Bobby Patel:

Are there panasonic phones that are Mac OS X compatible? What models? Some of this stuff should be old hat for companies with as much engineering as Siemens. Why can't cordless phones sync with computers just like cell phones?

Hi Guys,

Sorry that this may not be the right thread for this particular problem, however I wasn't sure if there were any other threads concerining Mac Users running the M34 USB.

So - on to the point. I'm running WIndows XP SP2 on my MacPro (Dual 3Ghz 8 core 7GB Ram). The problem I am having is that Skype seems to continuously change my sound settings with Skype so that I have to go continuously to sound preferfences and change them back before making any Skype calls through my Siemens S445 phone.. I have a lot of other USB devices on my machine including a Plantronics headset, a Logitech Webcamera for windows apps, and an isight camera for Ichat. Within Paralles I've made sure that none of these other USB devices are enabled for windows use with the exception of the M34 USB. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced similar problems, and if so are there any fixes? Any help gratefully received.

Also chiming in about OSX support. Just got a mac and now the whole reason I got these is gone. Poor show siemens.

Ok, So it seems Siemens has made the decision not to support customers running anything other than the Wintel platform. That's fine. But as one of the disapointed customers who bought an entire S645, S440's with M34 setup I had to find a solution. It was by no means perfect however I ended up using Trixbox CE which makes it simple to setup your own VOIP PBX. I had put this off as I was concerned about the complexity. However the DumbMe guide at http://dumbme.voipeye.com.au/trixbox/index.htm has proven this is the simplest way to link gigaset infrastructure to voip. Unfortunately you will have to give away the M34, it's usefulness has been negated by the lack of appropriate operating system support. Instead you will need to replace this functionality with a FWO+FXS card as explained in the guide.
Good luck and good hunting.

Well, How about osx drivers for M34 ?

Siemens is a reputabable company, how about drivers for OSX and linux ?

I'd presume Siemens equals quality and serviceability ?

If not ... bye customer, byebye company ...
