Windows Vista is the latest release of Microsoft Windows, a line of graphical operating systems used on personal computers, including home and business desktops. Before its announcement on July 22, 2005, Vista was known by its codename Longhorn. On November 8, 2006, Windows Vista development was completed and released to manufacturing. Over the next two months it was released to MSDN subscribers, computer hardware and software manufacturers and volume license customers. On January 30, 2007, it was released worldwide to the general public. These release dates come more than five years after the release of its predecessor, Windows XP, making it the longest time span between two releases of Windows.
According to Microsoft, Windows Vista contains hundreds of new features; some of the most significant include an updated graphical user interface and visual style dubbed Windows Aero, improved searching features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD Maker, and completely redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems. Vista also aims to increase the level of communication between machines on a home network using peer-to-peer technology, making it easier to share files and digital media between computers and devices. For developers, Vista introduces version 3.0 of the .NET Framework, which aims to make it significantly easier for developers to write high-quality applications than with the traditional Windows API.
Microsoft's primary stated objective with Vista, however, has been to improve the state of security in the Windows operating system. One of the most common criticisms of Windows XP and its predecessors has been their commonly exploited security vulnerabilities and overall susceptibility to malware, viruses and buffer overflows. In light of this, then Microsoft chairman Bill Gates announced in early 2002 a company-wide 'Trustworthy Computing initiative' which aims to incorporate security work into every aspect of software development at the company. Microsoft claimed that it prioritized improving the security of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 above finishing Windows Vista, significantly delaying its completion.
During the course of its development, Vista has been the target of a number of negative assessments by various groups. Criticism of Windows Vista has included protracted development time, more restrictive licensing terms, the inclusion of a number of new Digital Rights Management technologies aimed at restricting the copying of protected digital media, and the usability of new features such as User Account Control.

Hi Mark,
sry but you are right. The CX100 isdn is a quite old product, that's why Vista does not support it...you have to use Windows XP.
I have an M34 USB adapter. When will the Vista drivers be available ???
Hi Steeve,
I will check!
I would also very much like to know about those vista drivers.
any news on M34 USB adapter drivers for vista?
Any news on M34 USB adapter drivers for Vista?
I bought the Siemens M34 adapter because I taught I could trust Siemens. I taught that they would support their own products, not like some other companies. I hope I was not wrong. If I am wrong, I know what I'll do in the future when I will need to buy Siemens products. I won't !!!
I check almost everyday and hope they come soon. The FAQ said a few weeks in February. It has been quite a few weeks now.
Hey Guys,
I know you are waiting quite long for the drivers now. Sry for that. I will ask my colleagues if there is a chance to modify the Gigaset Quicksync Software to use the M34 USB with Vista...
Come on!!! I'm waiting for VISTA drivers since Febrary!! I'm waiting for an important call!! Drin, Drin... Wake UP!!! The Futere is PHILIPS!!
I hear that vista has been under industrial trials for well over one year before the official launch at the beginning of this year. I cannot believe that Siemens cannot sort the M34 USB driver out. I am beginning to think that we are being sold these peripherals under false prentences Come on Siemens sort it out...
Does anybody from Siemens read our questions? I have to say that if I don't get M34 Vista 64 drivers in next few weeks, I will have to sell my Siemens SL550+M34 with other Siemens peripherials and I will consider avoiding Siemens products in the future.
July 8th 2007, still nothing !!!!
What can I say ???
I will never buy siemens products again, i have been waiting so long for the vista drivers to come out. Once we bought the products from siemens we are no longer an interest to them ...
Hi everyone,
my latest information is that those drivers will be available in the first week of August. Will keep you up-to-date...
what about a driver for gigaset sc762 wlan dsl for my laptop with windows vista, do i have to get back to xp ,or is it coming soon?
Moritz,
The first week of August has passed. Please provide an update on M34 Vista driver support.
This is unbelievable, still no M34 Vista x64 driver?
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM??? Do they have incompetent developer?
I will never ever buy a Siemens product again have been waiting since February.
Why can’t they release the SDK so some competent developers can do the job for them
Hi Andrew & DSoft,
I reported your request (inter alia) this week to the responsible person but I still do not have an answer. I hope to get a response soon within the next week...I am very sry for your inconvenience

Dear All,
pls notice that the Siemens Gigaset M34 USB is compatible with Windows Vista from now on. Here is the link for the software download:

No, It's not compatible with my Vista Ultimate x64. This is only 32bit version of drivers. No good :(
When a driver for Windows Vista Ultimate x64???
I tried to register my M34 to S455 base and it wasn't working. Any idea why? Thx
Vista 64x is needed!
Windows Vista and 64x technology is modern...are Siemens on the move to catch up? Plz tell when?
Indeed, a driver for Vista x64 is needed. I sincerely hope that one will be available very soon.
it still does not work under vista ... i am going to buy a new phone and it surely won't be a siemens phone.
I have a same requirement for VISTA x64 driver. There is no response till now, why? Is this acceptable service quality?
Guess what: still no x64 driver for M34... A disgrace!
A shame, Siemens even don't comment when Vista x64 driver will be available
Hi Jerry,
hmmmm ... albeit not being Siemens myself I will try to find out if there are any plans to release a Vista driver...
but once again: This is a blog and not a Siemens q&a platform so pls do not expect to much...this blog is more about you guys exchanging experiences made with Siemens Gigaset products...
Hey guys,
here an update in regard to the x64 driver which I gained through Siemens internal communication:
While I am not a driver expert, I can pinpoint some potential problems:
1. The driver package consist of several drivers (at least five of them).
2. It is possible that recompilation to 64bit will not be enough as the drivers were written few years ago, and possibly they do not meet requiremens for Vista 64.
3. We need to get these drivers signed, because it is not possible to install an unsigned driver on Vista 64 (one have to disable the policy using the boot menu each time the OS is started). I do not know the reason why the current 32bit driver was never WHQLd, but there might be some issues that prevent it, so we can expect problems with the 64bit version as well.
I will keep you up-to-date...
Hey guys,
sry but I have to tell you that since M34 is a End of Life product and faces stock clearance, Siemens gigaset will not invest in high software efforts any more. So no Vista 64 edition for M34 planned...:-(
Why dont they just open source the drivers and let us get on with it?
Hi Chris,
true. There might be a chance to get the files. I will ask. Maybe we are lucky...
