May I ask where that cute router is produced? Is it quality "Made in Germany"?

David 9:06 PM, February 10, 2007

Hi David,

I will check & let u know!

Moritz 12:12 PM, February 14, 2007

Hi David,

the Siemens Gigaset SE366 WLAN is one of the few Gigaset products that are not "Made in Germany", but as all Gigaset products the SE366 WLAN has to fulfill the same quality criteria as all other products that are produced in Germany.

By the way: Product management & development for the SE366 WLAN are located in Germany.

Moritz 2:31 PM, February 19, 2007

Thanks for your information, Moritz. That sounds good. Nice that the Siemens GIgaset portfolio grows wider and wider - but really sad that Siemens doesn't produce mobiles any more! I loved them (and not just I did!) and I still can't find a good alternative...

David 2:49 PM, March 10, 2007

Hi David,

good to have "Siemens fans" in those though times. And yes the end of the mobile phones is a pity. Especially for our ex-colleagues.

Moritz 11:47 PM, March 10, 2007

Yes, I'm definitly a kind of "Siemens fan". Since the Gigaset 900 (already a good while ago ;-), all my phones come from Siemens - and it was quite interesting to see how usability and design developed over the yeas.

Currently, I'm very happy with the Gigaset S150 - nice design, perfect usability and very solid. I've also tried out the S455, but - sorry - I wasn't so satisfied with the handset stability as I am with with the S1. I hope the quality will increase again for future models.

And you're right, Moritz: What happened to the people employed at BenQ Mobile is really a tragedy. I hope the very best for their future.

May I ask a question about the firmware of the SE366? I bought a device last week and I read in the user manual provided on CD that the WDS facility is not yet supported. Therefore I will not be able to use the router together with a repeater Gigaset 108 I bought at the same time. Howewer, consulting the user documentation on the website of Siemens, I can see that the manual has been changed in relation with WDS support. Howewer, the latest firmware version downloadable (February 2007 if I remember well) does not include udate concerning this feature. Is there any way to get this update?

François HANSEN 3:53 PM, June 25, 2007

Hi Francois,
did you contact customer care and did they approve you that your problem is a firmware problem and not a problem within your configuration? If so I will contact product management...

Moritz 4:34 PM, June 25, 2007

Hi Moritz, thanks for your reply. I contacted customer care (case 1843976) and got a link back with the FAQ site. This was not very helpful to me. I would appreciate if you contact product management. I don't think that there is a problem with my configuration as the router itself works normally. Many thanks for your support.

François HANSEN 5:15 PM, June 25, 2007

Hi Francois,
ok. Will ask them. Hope I will get a quick answer...;)

Moritz 5:18 PM, June 25, 2007

Hi Moritz,
Thanks in advance - awaiting your reply
François

François HANSEN 10:32 PM, June 25, 2007

Hi Francois,
good news: We could provide a Beta version of the new FW which supports WDS. Pls send me your email adress to this mail and I will send you the Beta version.

Generally: The final version of the new FW will be available in August.

Moritz 2:05 PM, June 26, 2007

Hi Moritz,

I really appreciate your professional responsivity. My e-mail adress is franz@pt.lu
Please notify when you send it off.

Best regards

François HANSEN 2:38 PM, June 26, 2007

Hi Francois,
I just sent the Beta to your email. I would appreciate if you share your experiences about this version on the blog.
Best,
Moritz

P.S. I changed the email adress in your last comment in order to avoid spam...;)

Moritz 7:53 PM, June 26, 2007

Hi Moritz,
Many thanks for the Beta version. I will install it this week and let you know about the outcome. I think that Siemens people are behaving in a very professional way; it is not everyday that you can make such an experience in problem tracking and solving.
Best regards
François

François HANSEN 10:00 PM, June 26, 2007

Hi Moritz,
I have the same David problems with WDS configuration.
I upgraded with latest firware available 1.0.3.5.
May you send me the beta firmware?

best,
Marco ( m a s t e r @ i n s y s t e m . o r g )

Marco 10:28 PM, July 23, 2007

Hi Marco,
I will send you the Beta version tomorrow morning. Pls let me know if you received it & if this was helpful.

Moritz 12:18 AM, July 24, 2007

btw: You probably meant Francois and not David...;)...right?

Moritz 12:20 AM, July 24, 2007

yes, I confused myself....
Thank you for the driver.
I upgraded my se366.
However I was troubling with WDS and WLAN Repeater (54 and 108).
I resolved using Ethernet Adapter on Operating Mode in the Repeaters and assigning static ip on the network card of the pcs.
Now as now it seems all ok.

Sometimes when I try to connect to web page of my w366, after inserting the password it refuses the connection with this error message:

"Accesso rifiutato
Per configurare il proprio dispositivo, si può avviare non più di una sessione per volta. Attendere fino a quando l'altro utente ha terminato la sessione corrente e assicurarsi di cliccare sempre su Esci per abbandonare il programma di configurazione. "

I have'n other pcs accessing the router in the meanwhile.... it may be an error?

Another problem was establishing a connection from w366 and a Gigaset Usb Adapter54.
I used WEP 128bit with passphrase and the only way to establish a connection (the adapter showed the router with power, channnel and other infos) was assigning a static ip to the pc.

Thank you for all and sorry for my english,
Marco

Marco 6:07 PM, July 25, 2007

I just bought my Siemens Gigaset SE366 WLAN. And its wonderfull = fast at the internet + good security, I use WPA2-PSK / WPA - PSK configuration.
BUT, but, but: I have problems to get it work with my PS-3: It shows at the tv-monitor the name of my Siemens...... but cant get connected = ERROR: "8013013D" connectionproblems.
I would be happy if someone might help me.... tx a lot:)

Ole Bregnedal 11:26 PM, July 25, 2007

Today I tested the email notification in "Internet->Firewall->AttackDetection".
I tested 2 email configurations without success. The "Test Settings" button always report me "It was not possible to send a test e-mail to specified address....".
I tried as with ip as with name resolution in pop3 and smtp fields.

Marco

Hy,
there are news about new firmware release for this wireless system? Currently I have a beta driver installed.

thank you
Marco

Marco 12:42 AM, October 12, 2007

Hello!
I have bought a Gigaset Se366 WLAN that worked perfectly.
Today , i upgrade the firmware to 1.00.35.
And i did not connect to internet anymore.
local Connection from PC to router works fine wired or unwired. The WEP interface router said it is connected to the internet.
the "check internet configuration" of the WEP interface give me SUCCESS.
The SE366 is directly connected to a modem Thomson 7g.
I suposed it is a problem of the new firmware since i didn't change nothing on the configuration. Did you meet a similar problem? and maybe have a solution? otherwise: is it possible to downgrade the firmware to a previous version? where can i found this old firmware?
Cheers
Laurent (LoLoNapoli -AT- yahoo -DOT- it)

Laurent 5:57 PM, November 16, 2007

I need the new verision or (beta version) with the WDS feature please, my email address (bluera@gmail.com)

Mohamed 10:50 PM, November 16, 2007

Hi,
I'm using Siemens Gigaset SE366 WLAN purely as an access point.
I upgraded the firmware because i wanted to use WDS. Now, i cant set the default gateway on the DHCP options and the wireless devices cant get to the other networks.
Does anyone have an idea on how to set the default gateway? I'm connecting it to a repeater 108 and it doesn't seem to be working either.

John Ward 1:03 PM, December 27, 2007

ok, defaulted everything to factory settings, re-configured wep, ssid, key and wds.
Disabled dhcp on both. now uses other router for dhcp.
All working.

These products are excellent, too bad the documentation is rubbish.

John Ward 1:53 PM, December 27, 2007

I have a Gigaset SE587 router but do not get the wireless coverage I need in the rest of the house on the laptop. I think I need to boost the signal but am confused between whether I would be best served with a repeater or an ethernet bridge. I do not want any more wires in the house! Would upgrading the router's ariel be of any use, is it possible? Hope you can help.

Tony

Tony Forrester 5:04 PM, January 14, 2008

I cant log on to the siemens website to start configuring my repeater with the Linksys router. The internet page where I need to do the setup, doesn't want to open. I tried : http://192.268.2.254

Please help !!!!!!

Wilz 9:33 AM, February 5, 2008

Warning don't buy this router if you plan to use it with a nokia WLAN enabled mobile phone.
You need to run the router in exclusively 802.11b/g mode apparently, according to that manual you can do this, but because of a firmware bug it isn't possible.
Thank you siemen for making a good looking piece of junk.

Peter Möller 3:19 PM, February 16, 2008

Tony.
Try upgrading to a Zyxel router instead, I get better signal from my neighbours WLan labeled ZyXel, then a get from this junk.

Peter Möller 3:27 PM, February 16, 2008

Gigaset SE587 WLAN dsl router does not filter MAC address

This is a customised item for Tiscali.
No MAC filtering feature, only the WEP/WPA PSK for security. I assume Tiscali got fed up with pesky customers who couldn't connect because they don't understand MAC address filtering. So Siemens had to cripple a perfectly good WiFi router and call it SE587.

Come on, where is the proper firmware that has the MAC address filtering feature? Don't forget the flashing utility.

Separately, the default clock server address does not seem to exist. What is the URL of a compatible internet clock server? PLEASE.

Frederick Kuan 11:12 PM, April 2, 2008

Does any one know if there is a firmware for the SE587?
Is it compatible with the firmware of any of the other routers?

Harry Mills 6:44 PM, April 10, 2008

Dears,

I can not connect internet throgh gigaset 587. my laptop is eeepc (asus). however, my housemates can connect internet well except me. i guess whether the net card has problems or something.

where do i find the new firmware?

Anonymous 2:35 AM, May 4, 2008

Bought a new TELUS branded Gigaset se567 with TELUS
firmware that came with VPI and VCI preset. Those values
need to changed to VPI: 0 VCI: 35 for the netwok my ISP
uses, unable to make changes with locked TELUS firmware.
Is there a Siemens application firmware available to flash
my se567? I should add update files such as .bin are of
no use.

How do you update the firmware on this router? I have downloaded the firmware from the Siemens site (Gigaset_SE366_WLAN_V10045, exe, 3648 Kb), but the router will not accept it when I select it in the firmware update menu.

Pes 12:29 PM, May 18, 2008
