IS THAT THIS PHONE AVAILABLE FOR TWO TELEPHONE LINE? OR ANY OTHER MODEL BLUE TOOTH COMPATIBLE.

ATA 12:37 AM, February 28, 2007

Hi Ata,
of course you can use this phone with 2 lines.

Moritz 11:06 AM, February 28, 2007

Hi There,
I live in Toronto, Canada. Could you please let me know where I can buy Siemense Gigaset SL565?

Ali 7:07 PM, March 6, 2007

I live in Los Angeles, California and would love to buy this phone. Any idea when it will be available on the US market?

Teelo 11:21 AM, March 7, 2007

I postrd before this question "IS THAT THIS PHONE AVAILABLE FOR TWO TELEPHONE LINES? OR ANY OTHER MODEL BLUE TOOTH COMPATIBLE."
I means two external lines not two handsets.

ATA 2:13 AM, March 9, 2007

I have been told that i can ask questions which are not usual on this system. I have an SL565 system working at home with an M34 usb adapter which is coupled to a 24hour dedicated server and i use skype a fair bit very successfully. I also have a bt voip(broadband talk)service which i pay for with a dedicated extra telephone number as part of the package. I would like to integrate the systems together, any time the broadband talk number is dialed i can answer it on my gigaset phone and use the extra line to dial out on like another line. I have asked several people but so far to no avail, to me it seems like a logical development of the system. Have you any comments as how i can achieve this integration etc.

Regards

Please can I be updated on SL565 Vista compatability. So far the MPM software gives error 1603 on install. I want to sync my Outlook contacts onto my SL56 home phone.

Richard Grieve 3:20 PM, April 3, 2007

Hi Richard,
my colleagues are preparing a firmware that is compatible with Vista but it is not yet released. Will keep you up-to-date...

Moritz 3:43 PM, April 4, 2007

Any further development regarding the vista compatibilty for mpm software to use with sl 560?

Power 4:09 PM, April 21, 2007

Hi,

nope. Sry to say, but I will tell u as soon as possible...

Moritz 5:21 PM, April 23, 2007

I just bought a SL565, 4 SL56 handsets and M34 USB adapter.

While I can see its potential, I am very unhappy with the software (MPM and M34). Neither can edit the phone book properly (all fields like home/mobile etc). The MPM software is unreliable and slow. It is obvious it is not designed for the SL565.

Why can I only have one voice tag per entry? What is the point of that if I use one entry to keep that person's home, office and mobile number? You need the option to have one voice tag per number (in a single entry). Otherwise we have to have seperate user records, which is very poor and not compatible with outlook.

Skype works but - I want the SL565 answerphone to work if the call to SL565 via skype is not answered. Instead, it just rings forever. Also I cannot see Skype messages on my handset despite the option set in M34 software.

MPM locks up trying to upload a small 128x100 picture to the phone via bluetooth.

Where is the info on having stock information and other info on the handset? This is one reason I bought it and cannot find how to do this.

The rings before answerphone is not flexible enough. 10 is too soon, 20 is too long. We need to define the seconds ourselves or have more entries like 12 and 15 seconds. This is a problem for UK customers using BT features.

We need the new software (and vista support) you said would be available last month. As it stands, I think this product has great potential but is verging on "unfit for the advertised purposes" if you ask me. I will wait for the new software but not long.

Chris 2:44 PM, May 4, 2007

I see two questions about availability in North America, but no answer. So again, when will this be available in the US & Canada?

Thank you.

Dane 4:14 PM, May 5, 2007

Sry guys. It is possible to use the phone in the States or Canada.

Moritz 6:50 PM, May 7, 2007

i have 35 SL560 on a Samsung OS 7200 been working for 2 months without any problems now suddenly i get crossed lines and a cracling on some of the extentions

Kai Schlichting 11:32 AM, May 8, 2007

Any update on the new software?

Chris 10:25 AM, May 9, 2007

When do you release the vista drivers/software???

Christof Horst 2:43 PM, May 10, 2007

I agree with the comments here. I have been using my SL565 and SL56 + M34 very happily for the best part of a year for landline and Skype but since upgrading to Vista am experiencing all of the issues raised above.

Given the cost and overall quality of these phones and the length of time Vista has been in development it is really quite poor service from Siemens not to have propper drivers yet.

The only way I can use Skype is with poor sound quality to make call. I cannot effectively receive calls!

When can we expect the new drivers?

Gary 12:11 AM, May 14, 2007

Siemens... where are the drivers?

And why is there no proper MUTE on the handsets??? This is a massive omission and I hope you can address this with a firmware update. As they stand, a lack of proper mute renders these useless for conference calls.

Chris 7:50 PM, May 15, 2007

I just bought SL56 with additional handset and M35 dongle. I'm very suprised to see that there's no software in the list of M34 CD. What am I supposed to do?

Tufan 8:11 PM, May 19, 2007

Hey Guys,
thanks to everyone for your requests! They were all forwarded to the product manager.
I am looking forward to see the software online within this week. My internal information militate for this. Let's hope the best...;)

Hi everybody, I have a problem with Mobile Phone Manager installation. It shows a -160300 fatal error. Does anybody know how to fix this.

I'm using windows xp x64

Anonymous 4:28 PM, June 1, 2007

Hi Anonymous,

Siemens developed a new tool called "Siemens QuickSync" that is compatible with Microsoft® Windows® XP and Windows® Vista and covers the current Gigaset SL handet range:
http://gigaset.siemens.com/shc/0,1935,hq_en_0_138347_rArNrNrNrN_variation%253A-5_pageType%253Adownloads_imagePos%253A0,00.html#content

Catalonia 10:21 PM, June 1, 2007

For all of my research on the internet, can anyone please explain why there is no proper mute function on any of the recent siemens gigaset systems? I work from home quite frequently, and rely on the mute function for conference calls. So, again, why no mute?

Ryan 9:38 PM, June 2, 2007

I live in Toronto , Canada and I would like to buy a Gigaset SL565. Where can I find this product in Canada or US? If Siemens doesn't carry it in North America, does the phone work if I buy it in Europe and bring it here? I know I might need a transformer to change the 220 Volt to 110 Volt.

Thanks

Ali Ajellu 7:08 PM, June 11, 2007

I also need a single-key silent Mute button - I couldn't believe the SL565s don't have one but they definitely do not. All you can do is put someone on hold - you can't hear the conversation though. This is no good obviously.

I don't understand why such a simple feature is not present on an expensive handset but is on the most basic ones.

Siemens, please release a firmware update to give us the option of programming one of the buttons as a MUTE.

Chris 11:48 AM, June 19, 2007

While quicksync installs ok (on vista), it won't find my SL56. I'm using a proper Siemens DCA-510. I installed version 2.0.0.8 of the DCA-510 driver (its xp/2k/Me, not vista) - maybe thats the problem. So, what use is quicksync on vista if we can't get the DCA-510 to work on vista? I'd rather not get a bluetooth dongle on my workstation just to make this work when I've already bought the DCA-510.

Chris 2:57 PM, June 19, 2007

Hi Ali,
sry Siemens doesn't carry out in the North America. I am not 100% sure, but I think I won't be done with the transformer because you have different phone standards in Europe and in the States...

Moritz 7:14 PM, June 21, 2007

Well Siemens, I've given up and returned all four of my SL56s, SL565 and M34 for a full refund because the phone doesn't do some things its supposed to and you are taking too long. The shop didn't even argue when I returned them - seems this has happened before right?

Quicksync is pointless when there is no Vista M34 and DCA-510 driver(!). The phone needs some decent software to edit multiple phones' phonebooks more easily - QuickSync is, frankly, very poor and obviously a "quick fix" attempt but it is massively lacking. You need to get your Vista drivers sorted (including the DCA-510) and get some decent software to edit the phonebooks in multiple phones. Try and get some consistency in your phonebooks (the lack of standard Firstname,Lastname is annoying, assigning different voice tags to a specific number in an entry rather than the first, etc etc).

On top of that the phone doesn't even have a proper MUTE function - something that should not have been missing from day one and you could have fixed in a firmware update.

Its a really promising phone let down by poor firmware and software support . I am very sad to return it by already fine the Philips is much better and has direct Skype too.

Chris 2:36 PM, June 26, 2007

Hi Chris,
though I am not responsibe that the M34 USB is not Vista compatible yet, I am sry about your frustration. All I can say the info I received today tells me that the FW will be available end of July. Will let you know on this blog. If you are still interested in testing the M34 USB with Vista at this point of time let me know then I will provide you the Siemens Gigaset products you just returned. It is in the interest of Siemens that the customers are satisfied with the products, and if they are not as in your case, we try to find other ways to compensate

Moritz 9:32 PM, June 26, 2007

Is there any way to buy this phone in the US? Are there any European vendors that can ship this phone to the US?

Thanks!

mike 9:35 PM, June 26, 2007

Hi Moritz,

OK I am willing to help out so I've attached my email this time if you want to get in touch. The SL565/56 are really promising bits of kit but let down by a few basic things which are software issues.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris 7:52 PM, June 29, 2007

I have had no luck using my Jabra JX10 with the SL565; the headset pairs fine, but it has been impossible to transfer the calls to the headset or answer using the heasset!!!

Ali 8:41 PM, July 3, 2007

Hi Chris,
could you pls briefly tell me how you are using Gigaset products (how many?, at work?, at home?...) respectively how did you use them. Via this blog or if you want this to be private: info@gigaset-blog.com

Moritz 4:49 PM, July 4, 2007

I'll send you an emali Moritz.

I am living in Toront, Canada. Is that anywhere in Toronto that I can buy a simens phone?

Anna 7:20 AM, July 7, 2007

I've owned the SL565 for 8 months now and am generally satisfied with the product features and build.

However, I must join the chorus of complaints at the lack of a working MUTE function, even though it's been included in the documentation since day one. When I reported it to Siemens back in January I was guided through the factory reset procedure to get it working.

Are we any closer to getting this code defect fixed?

Chris B 8:10 PM, August 29, 2007

yeahh, beautiful phone but very crappy software: no BT synchro of images, rigtones etc possible neither on my nokia E65 or brand new Dell lattitude 620. Too much hassle. Send a email for support..let's see and wait, otherwise: return and get my money back and say goodby Siemens 4ever!!!

Edward 10:37 PM, October 2, 2007

so I got a reply from Siemens: I should install gtool...What they are saying is: our software does not work, use some freeware tool CMON!!!!! I paid money for a product that is not finished...I send back an answer to have it solved, otherwise I will return my phone...

Edward 12:48 PM, October 4, 2007

The instructions for this phone specify that it features ECO Dect. Yet the feature is missing in the phone menu? Does the firmware need updating?

martin 5:26 PM, October 7, 2007

Gtool works, good job Siemens, I keep the handset ;-)

Edward 8:56 PM, October 7, 2007

still waiting for reply concerning quicksync. Still would like to have it to work as it resizes pictures correctly. I put pictures on the phoen with gtool but they really look terrible

Edward 8:59 PM, October 7, 2007

Where in USA can I buy SL 565

Elena F 11:35 PM, October 14, 2007

Just purchased the SL565 and 2 extra SL56 handsets today from a local dealer in the UK who let us see the phone before purchase. And what a stylish functional phone this is (Much better feel & looks than the equiv. Panasonic KXTG9150), top marks for Siemens on the styling front.
However, the biggest failing of this phone is the lack of a MUTE function, it has a HOLD feature, but that is more a gimmick.
SIEMENS Please take note (if you read these comments!) people want a MUTE function that allows the microphone to be muted whilst the caller can still be heard. You obviously never have Audio Conferences in your company !!!! This is a basic function of a modern phone.
I would be interested to know if this can be done in a Firmware upgrade, if not these are going back tomorrow.
Which is a shame.

Paul Molyneaux 9:23 PM, November 1, 2007

Again. Where in USA can I buy SL 565....?

Marco 11:20 PM, November 6, 2007

Very nice phones. Just bought a triple set from a site in the UK - they had best pricing:

http://www.cordless-phones.uk.com/cordless-phones/multihandset-answering-machine/siemens-gigaset-sl565-trio

Very pleased - really stylish. I've just found out though that Siemens have brought out the SL375! Does anyone have this. Would be nice to hear some comments. I couldnt find any reviews yet on this site:

http://www.cordless-phones.uk.com/cordless-phones/multihandset-answering-machine/siemens-gigaset-sl375-twin

Anthony Tierney 4:04 AM, November 7, 2007

We have the SL565 set (6 handsets!) and like plenty of others here I think are happy with the style and general performance of the phone but are completely mystified why there is no decent mute facility. My fiancee works for a US multinational (we're in the UK) and is often engaged in long conference calls to the states. A decent mute option, where she can mute the microphone but still receive sound on the speaker, is essential. On the Siemens kit however when you 'mute' (having set hold music to off) it kills the incoming sound too with just a series of tones, presumably to remind you that the call is now 'on hold'. Well, this isn't a mute function as most people understand it. Siemens - please, please can you explain why there's no mute and, most importantly, can we expect some kind of firmware update to fix this deficiency some time in the near future? We're seriously having to consider returning the whole lot and choosing a different make of phone if this isn't addressed soon.

Chris Miller 3:10 PM, November 8, 2007

I have a SL565 and SL56 six extension system.
I run XL on my PC.
I want to set up a contacts directory from my PC on my system
When I tried to buy a DCA connection cable from Siemens they said go back to your dealer. The dealer said he cannot get these anymore, go to eBay.
I found one there but in HongKong and it has now arrived.
I have downloaded QuickSync.
However no matter what I do including loading and umloading I cannot get a connection to any of my handsets.
I think I have tried all the usual troubleshooting but to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas please?

Barrance 12:52 PM, November 20, 2007

Hi Barrance,

is Bluetooth switched off? Do you bought an original DCA500 or DCA510?
Most 3rd party products will not work with the Gigaset SL56.

Catalonia 5:50 PM, November 21, 2007

Hi Catalonia,
Hmm, I did not think of Blutooth interfering!
I can't find how to switch Bluetooth off although I do not recall actually switching it on in the first place when I set the system up.
The cable is clearly marked DCA-510: as I said in my first post, having been let down both by Siemens and the 'phone retailer I was directed to eBay and bought one that seems to be the same.
I cannot think what else to do.
I have tried the supplied CD software and the downloaded one from Siemens.

Barrance 12:17 PM, November 22, 2007

Is there any sign of the Vista x64 drivers for the M34 USB?

Howard 1:56 PM, November 22, 2007

Hello everybody. I've seem you have the same problem, realy siemens do not want to work on x64 operating systems. Welll we heve found some thing;
1 It will work ONLY with PL2303 data-cabels (DCA-510 and some chinese like)
2 x64 drivers is compitable with x64 XP, x64 Server, x64 Vista.

May be this info will be usefull, how to decorate SINGLE-INF driver ti x64 is THERE:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/install/64INF_reqs.mspx (use it for decorating GPRS via COM .inf file)

DOWNLOAD x64 driver from http://www.prolific.com.tw/support/files//IO%20Cable/PL-2303/Drivers%20-%20Generic/Windows/wd_pl2303h-hx-x_64-bit_v2018.zip
IT WORKS with PL2303 chip in data-cable like DCA-510

then you may use some decorated via driver or may download from my site http://ptipti.nm.ru/files/siex64.inf (9Kb)
this inf contain:
GPRS via COM driver
GPRS via IRDA driver
GPRS via Bluetooth driver.

Pti_the_Leader 3:36 AM, November 25, 2007

Just bought this phone based on the really rich functional list.

Bottom line is it's rubbish. Who in the Siemens design team let this product go to market without a mute button.

I spend a lot of time on confrence call and can't mute it and listen to the call - so it renders this product useless.

I spoke to the Siemens help line - they told me it can't be rectified. So that was a waste of time and money.

So I'm taking the phone back to where I bought it and will be purchasing a phone with a "MUTE" button.

Siemens - sort it out - you'd have a good product if you bothered to listen to the people on this blog.

Shabby operation !!

Richard Bailey 2:00 PM, November 26, 2007

The phone will never be available in the US until Siemens changes the frequency it operates on and gets FCC certified. I bought 2 SL565's off ebay from Germany and France. I use them on board cruiseship charters I work on that use the DECT phone system onboard. I plugged it into my home phoneline and it works fine, but as far as the FCC is concerned, it's illeagal to use in the 1880-1900 frequency range for that type of phone.. Also have not got the DCA-510 cable to work and I can live without the mute button hahahah

Allan McGavin 7:13 AM, November 29, 2007

Another person adding his comments to the NO MUTE function brigade.

I bought the Quad S675 set and some extra handsets, they are all going back as I can't live without a working mute function.

Latest SL56 (bought for Christmas for my parents) have a new firmware with the ecodec support.
The only difference I have note is the ecodec config entry and a less buggy incoming call logging (SL565+SL56).
I did not test the MUTE function to see if it is now a REAL MUTE function.
My own is a SL565 + tree SL56 bought at the end of 2006
The one million $ question is (are) :
Is there any way to upgrade the firmware of my olds SL56 ?
Is there any way to upgrade the firmware of my old SL565 deck ?
If yes to the first or the two, how to get this firmware and the necessary to flash it ?

crap phone but looks nice

I am trying desperately to find a bluetooth headset to work with these phones. They seem to pair but I got no response when trying to make a call. Does anyone know what bluetoot headsets are compatible with them?? The phones that I have are Siemens SL565. I have tried already to call Siemens and also Plantronic but I got nothing.

Christian Bistrieanu 6:36 PM, March 7, 2008

I've just bought an SL56 mainly for the fact that there is at last a BT connection.
But, of course, it just does not work with the Apple's Adressbook ! Siemens answers does not say otherwise.
I can't stop moaming about all those corp's creating great technologies, but are then totally unable to render them *really* usefull to the end user, whatever the plateform he's using !

Come on people, we are taking absolutly peanuts (moneywise) to developp a driver to please a not so small community...
I can't wait for the day, I'll be able to sync ALL my devices in one go !

Hear me yelling loud from Paris ? huh ! :-(

I'am getting tired of all this junk !

Marco Polo 7:46 PM, March 21, 2008

I feel robbed and let down by Siemens. First and last product I will buy. I bought the sl565 triple some time ago, tried to install quicksync on Vista....quicksync installs but will not start. Tried many times and tried xp compatibility method. So next I try via xp on another machine. Quicksync installs, the usb drivers install, siemens usb serial shows in device manager as com port 4. Start quicksync, connect........times out. I have had no luck with customer services. Basically I am left with expensive, nice looking crap. How about some REAL CUSTOMER SERVICES, use STAFF AWARE AND QUALIFIED TO HELP, not some woman reading from a script, putting me on hold constantly and end result is the same. Ps anyone want to buy a set of three sl565's....really nice looking phones you know

Another user in utter dismay because of the lack of a mute function. I bought this phone (and 3 additional handsets) based on an on-line userguide from this website that describes a mute function. This is not acceptable. I also sit on teleconferences for hours on end and need that functionality.

Cindy P 8:37 AM, June 17, 2008

Hi Cindy,
could you pls tell me on which website you found this userguide?

Anyway: I will try to push the mute topic Siemens internally because there are a lot of requests about this on this blog. As my means are limited, I will nevertheless try my best ...;)
