The European Regulators Group (ERG) is preparing substantial steps to promote greater
harmonisation in the EU electronic communications sector. A draft resolution of the ERG proposes the following issues:
In future VoIP call operators are viewed as telecoms. The VoIP market, previously constrained by countries banning nomadic numbers, is opening up. VoIP call operators may claim geographic phone numbers for their customers. Then again the VoIP call operators have the duty to supply emergency services as well as wiretapping facilities.
Public statements in regard to the draft will be accepted until November 6th.
