Car manufacturers around the world do not want to miss the trend of so-called "ECO-cars", vehicles which promise to preserve the environment and save money for the customer at the same time. Honda has already made several attempts to build energy efficient cars, but it looks like the Japanese are far away from running out of options.
Their so-called "heat harnessing hybrid" promises to recycle more lost energy than regular hybrid engines. A Rankine cycle engine captures lost heat from the vehicle's exhaust and puts it back to heat water. Converted to steam, an electric generator is powered. The energy charges the car's battery pack. Honda's current prototype pledges a 3.8% increase in efficiency when motoring along at about 60 miles per hour.
