Spy Satellite destroyed by US Navy

Yesterday at about 10.30 p.m. US Navy missiles were fired from the deck of the warship USS Erie in the Pacific Ocean. Their target was a runaway spy satellite. Those missiles come up to a speed of 5,000mph. The satellite itself was traveling at 17,000mph. It is not clear how much damage was done to the object, but Navy sources claim that any hit to the dying satellite (orbiting 130 miles over the Pacific Ocean) would put it out of our misery, due to the speed and trajectory at which it's traveling.
