Siemens Gigaset & Orange team up

20080313_CAT.jpgSiemens Gigaset & Orange have teamed up to promote CAT-iq TM (Cordless Advanced Technology – internet and quality) , successor of the DECT standard , to consumers in France and further strategic markets across Europe end of 2008.
Orange signed up Siemens Gigaset as their first partner for introducing the CAT-iq standard inside Orange ’s Livephone portfolio. This is based on the fact that Siemens Gigaset phones fulfill key product abilities and assets to raise consumer awareness for the benefits of CAT-iq: high-end technology, superior sound, top quality products and a strong brand.

The Siemens Gigaset handsets will be connected via a dongle to the Orange Livebox. The dongle guarantees technical convergence and full access to the new CAT-iq technology, such as real-life speech performance.

“CAT-iq is the future of telephony. The partnership with Orange is a big step for us to migrate to CAT-iq – and for consumers to ease into this new technology with a product they know and trust”, says Dr. Jochen Eickholt, CEO at SHC (Siemens Gigaset).

As new global technology CAT-iq enhances the DECT standard by broadband internet access which allows a new range of applications and upgrades for cordless phones. Orange Livephone consumers will be able to use these services on selected Siemens Gigasets.

SHC already is Orange ’s largest partner in analogue phones. With this partnership Siemens Gigaset and Orange have taken a big step towards leading the market with CAT-iq phones in the future.

The Orange Livephone Gigasets will be available across Europe by the end of 2008.
