The "refreshed" Siemens Gigaset E450 comes in black & grey and is now equipped with ECO DECT technology. It is shock, splash and dust resistant. The Siemens Gigaset E455 SIM also integrates an answering machine and a SIM card reader. Thanks to ECO DECT technology, the new models consume 60 percent less power than their predecessors while significantly reducing transmitting power. The phones comply with the DIN IP 54 standard. That means they can withstand a light rain shower, or dust and shavings in a hobby workroom.

If desired, a headset can be plugged into the 2.5 millimeter jack on the Siemens Gigaset E45 handset. That makes it easy for users to make calls while cooking or doing the ironing, for example. The phone offers a six-line color display, an illuminated keypad and the intuitive icon-based menu system. In addition, SMS text messages with up to 640 characters can be sent. The integrated phonebook offers plenty of space for storing contact data (up to 150 entries). People who spend a lot of time on the phone will also appreciate the talk time of up to twelve hours and a standby time of as much as 160 hours.

The Siemens Gigaset E455 SIM has an integrated digital answering machine that can record up to 35 minutes of voice messages and can be operated from the cordless phone’s handset. The integrated SIM card reader enables phonebook entries to be swapped with a mobile phone. The charging cradle of the Siemens Gigaset E455 is separate from the base station and can be mounted on the wall.

ECO DECT functionality

Thanks to ECO DECT and energy-saving switched-mode power supplies, the new cordless phones from Siemens cut power consumption by up to 60 percent compared with conventional cordless phones. If just one mobile phone is used, the base station cuts the transmitting power of the Siemens Gigaset E450 to almost zero when the handset is in the charging cradle. ECO mode can also be used to slash the transmitting power of the Siemens Gigaset E450 and E455 by 80 percent, even when several handsets are used or calls are being made. In addition, the handsets automatically reduce the transmitting power depending on how far they are from the base station – to just 15 percent at a distance of eight meters, for example.

Prices and availability

The Siemens Gigaset E450 is now available at 79.99 euros, and the Siemens Gigaset E455 SIM with an answering machine at 99.99 euros. They come in the color “night blue” with contrasting gray rubber elements. An additional Gigaset E45 handset including a charging cradle costs 79.99 euros. Up to six handsets can be registered at the base station.
