If you are one of those guys who buy phones only because you need a simple device to call - and to call only - then this one here is your go:
the Siemens Gigaset A580 and the Siemens Gigaset A585 with an integrated answering machine are new entry-level models from Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices (SHC). With talk times of up to 25 hours and a handsfree function with good sound quality, the devices are still very convenient. Standby time goes up to 210 hours.

The illuminated display and keys ensure easy operation, also when it is dark. Thanks to ECO DECT technology, the Siemens Gigaset A580 and A585 cut power consumption by up to 60 percent compared with conventional Siemens Gigaset phones. In addition, the necessary transmitting power is slashed – by almost 100 percent in charging or idle mode.

The Siemens Gigaset A585’s answering machine can record up to 25 minutes of messages. Moreover, missed calls are shown on the display. If the CLIP function is enabled, users can call up a list containing the names, numbers and time stamps for the last 25 callers, who can then be dialed directly. The integrated phone book holds 150 names and numbers. If callers are already stored in the phone book, the display shows their name when they call. If users do not have the time for a lengthy chat with family and friends, they can also send SMS text messages with up to 160 characters.

The Siemens Gigaset A580 is on sale in July for 39.99 euros. The Siemens Gigaset A585 with an integrated answering machine costs 49.99 euros. The Siemens Gigaset A585 IP, a hybrid variant for calls over the Internet, will soon be available as well...
