Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices GmbH & Co. KG (SHC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG with its headquarters in Munich. The company was incorporated on October 1st, 2005 after it was carved out from the former business sector Cordless Products at Siemens Information and Communications. The business focuses on the design, development, manufacturing and distribution of a range of high-quality products under the brand Siemens Gigaset, including phones for landline and Voice over IP calls, routers and gateways (DSL and WiMAX) as well as home media products. The portfolio also includes software solutions for consumers and service providers. SHC is headed by Dr. Jochen Eickholt (CEO), Thomas Kresser (CFO) and Costa e Silva (CMO).
Siemens Gigaset DECT phones are not only market leader in Germany, where a Gigaset can be found in every second household, but also in Europe and Number two worldwide. Independent product tests and readers’ choice awards regularly confirm the quality and user friendliness of the Gigaset products. Many Gigasets receive design awards such as the “red dot Award“ or the “if-Designaward“ for stylish and timeless design.
SHC is active in more than 69 countries and employs 2.100 people worldwide. The majority of products sold are developed and manufactured at the production site in Bocholt, Germany. Here the Siemens Gigaset products are produced under the highest quality and environmental standards. In 2007 SHC’s environmental management system received the DIN EN ISO 14001 certification. In this context the company specified its environmental policy and changed the Siemens Gigaset portfolios for both cordless phones and broadband devices to incorporate ECO DECT and ECO Broadband – an important contribution to environmental and climate protection: These products are particularly energy-efficient and enable a variable reduction of transmission power.
This year, the Siemens Gigaset phones are celebrating their 15th anniversary. Since the introduction of the first DECT telephone in 1993, Siemens consistently reaffirmed its leadership in innovation with cordless phones. For instance, the integrated answering machine , hands-free speaker phone systems, SMS in the landline, VoIP solutions for DECT phones and new standards like CAT-iq were first to be found in Siemens Gigaset products.
